Understanding Provider Tiers

When you browse clinic profiles on Aurevon Health you will see two different kinds of marks: a circular partner tier badge and the licence and accreditation details the clinic has provided. This page explains what each of these means.

What the partner tier badges mean

The circular badge shows the subscription package a clinic has chosen with Aurevon Health. Higher tiers include more directory features, such as an expanded profile, more photos and video, featured placement and, for healthcare groups, multi-location listings.

Tier badges are not a ranking of clinical quality, safety or results. A higher tier means a larger directory presence, not a better clinic. Every clinic in the directory is an independent, licensed healthcare provider, and all clinical decisions remain with its own medical professionals.

What clinic accreditations mean

Alongside the tier badge, each clinic profile displays the licence and accreditation information the clinic has provided. These credentials come from independent bodies and are worth understanding when you compare providers.

National medical authorities

Every country in our directory licenses its doctors and healthcare facilities through a national authority, usually a Ministry of Health or a national medical council. A clinic that is legally permitted to treat patients is registered with the medical authority of its own country, for example the Ministry of Health in Turkey, the national medical councils of EU member states such as Germany, Italy, Spain, France and Malta, or the equivalent authority in the Czech Republic and Sweden. Registration with the national authority is the baseline requirement for legitimate practice, and patients can verify a provider's registration directly with the authority concerned.

ISO certification

ISO certification, most commonly ISO 9001, is awarded to organisations that meet international standards for quality management systems. In a healthcare setting it indicates that the clinic or hospital follows documented, consistent processes across its operations. ISO certification is about how an organisation is run rather than the results of any specific treatment.

International accreditation schemes

Some hospitals also hold international accreditations, such as JCI (Joint Commission International), which assesses hospitals against an extensive set of patient safety and clinical care standards. International accreditation is voluntary and is generally held by larger hospitals rather than smaller clinics.

What we recommend patients check

Whatever the tier badge, we encourage every patient to take the same steps before committing to treatment abroad:

  1. 1Verify the clinic's registration with its national medical authority
  2. 2Ask about the qualifications and experience of the specific surgeon or specialist who would treat you
  3. 3Ask the clinic to explain its accreditations and confirm them with the issuing bodies
  4. 4Discuss your medical history, expectations and risks in a full consultation with the clinic's own medical team
  5. 5Confirm exactly what your treatment package includes, in writing, before you travel

Frequently Asked Questions

What do the Aurevon partner tier badges mean?+

The badges show the subscription package a clinic has chosen. Higher tiers include more directory features, such as expanded profiles, video and featured placement. Tiers describe the commercial partnership level, not the medical quality of the clinic.

Does a higher tier mean a better clinic?+

No. The tier reflects the directory package the clinic pays for, not clinical quality or outcomes. Patients should assess each clinic on its own credentials and the consultation they have with its medical team.

What does ISO certification mean for a clinic?+

ISO certification, most commonly ISO 9001, means the organisation meets international standards for quality management. It indicates consistent, documented processes across operations, rather than the results of any specific treatment.

What is JCI accreditation?+

JCI, the Joint Commission International, is an organisation that assesses hospitals against international patient safety and clinical care standards. It is a voluntary scheme generally held by larger hospitals.

Who licenses the clinics in the directory?+

Every clinic is licensed by the medical authority of its own country, such as its Ministry of Health or national medical council. Licence details are supplied by the clinics and displayed on their profiles for patients to verify.

Does Aurevon Health verify accreditations itself?+

Licence and accreditation information is provided by the clinics themselves and displayed on their profiles. We encourage patients to confirm credentials directly with the issuing authorities and to discuss them with the clinic during consultation.
